Motorists can expect a smooth ride on the city roads from the next financial year as the Haryana Urban Develop-ment Authority (Huda) has decided to rope in some international firms having proven expertise in road repair and construction.
Trans Metalite India Limited and CDF Private Ltd are some of the global companies that are already engaged in road construction and repair works in the city. These firms are said to be in Huda’s priority list.
Trans Metalite has been engaged for repairing potholes, whereas CDF has been working on the widening of Gurgaon Faridabad Road.
“It is too early to say whether these companies will be awarded tenders in new financial year. Huda will float tenders and select those having good reputation,” said a Huda official, adding that local contractors may lose awards.
On Monday, Huda administrator Praveen Kumar held a meeting with the engineering wing of all six divisions of the department.
The administrator asked the engineers to submit estimates of their respective divisions by March 12.
Till date, an estimate of about R120 crore has been submitted to the Huda administrator from one of the six zones.
