The deputy president of the Liberal Democratic Party and chair of its ethnic minority cell leader Fiyaz Mughal has some reservations about the ban on 'glorifying terrorism', passed by the Commons.
He said, "Even though the House of Lords voted to remove it from the Terrorism Bill that was drafted after the events of July 7, 2005."
Commenting on the introduction of the clause, Mughal said, "The introduction of this term opens it up to a subjective assessment and will also be shaped by the political climate of the day. This will clearly affect the decision that juries make.
"More and more laws are being introduced that are reducing the space for discourse to take place within. Such a subjective and wide sweeping term means that there is a real threat to the civil liberties that we all take for granted."
