Whilst many aspects of English culture have spread around the world the pub quiz remains a largely British phenomenon — most likely due to its origins in the 1970s, long after the end of Empire. This humble pastime has found its way to Delhi via The Living Room Cafe (TLR).

Located in Hauz Khas Village, TLR organises its own pub quiz, unique to Delhi, every Sunday night from 9.30 pm onwards, hosted by Samir Krishnamurti. Lasting for approximately an hour, Krishnamurti asks successive rounds of questions on music, sports, films, and general knowledge, among others.

The music round consists of listening to a track and guessing the song and artist, while other rounds consist of spoken questions and picture questions. It’s a relaxing and fun way to spend the night before an early Monday morning. It is also a great way to pick up new bits of trivia as well as showing off your own. The latter is more rewarding as the winning group gets 50 per cent off on its bill. All participants get a 10 per cent discount.
