In the continuing game of one-upmanship in faction-ridden Digamber Kamat government in Goa, the Chief Minister today called an "emergency" meeting of the cabinet to discuss possible dissolution of the House after a boycott threat by dissidents, but "dropped" the issue from the agenda when they turned up.

The Chief Minister had last evening convened a meeting of the cabinet to discuss the crucial issue of dissolution after seven disgruntled legislators, including five ministers met in Mumbai on Monday and threatened to boycott cabinet meetings.

However, the cabinet which met on Tuesday gave the issue a miss and folded up after discussing state's sports policy.

Senior Congress Minister Churchill Alemao said, the meeting sidestepped any discussion on dissolution after five ministers belonging to the NCP, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, United Goans Democratic Party and an independent changed their mind and attended the meeting.

The Congress-led government in the state is locked in a tug-of-war with its coalition partners, on whom the Kamat ministry is dependent for survival, over a variety of issues including change in portfolios like home and public works.
