It may be noted that farmers of three villages Gorakhpur, Kajalheri and Badopal villages of this district have been sitting on dharna outside mini-secretariat here for last 447 days against establishment of Nuclear Power plant on their 1500 acres of agriculture land. During this period of more than one year three of the elderly farmers lost their life owing to heart attack.

Hans Raj Siwach, president of Kishan Sangrash Samiti Gorakhpur told Hindustan Times over phone "We have been carrying out our agitation for 447 days outside mini secretariat in a Gandhian way without any kind of assistance from administration side in cold and hot weather".

Siwach said "It seems our efforts and plight are ignored completely by state government, so we have decided to oppose the Congress candidate in upcoming Adampur and Ratia bypolls to bring our cause in government notice". He questioned "If Anna can do it for a cause, we too want to try the same on his lines so that thick skinned politicians can pay any heed on us and we can reclaim our right on our agriculture fields".
