After examining various aspects of the trust vote held in the state assembly on March 11, Governor M C Bhandare is expected to take a decision on the matter soon in order to end the impasse, highly placed sources in Raj Bhavan said.

“Though no final view has been taken on the matter so far, a clear picture is likely to emerge soon,” they said.

The Governor has already scrutinised the video recordings of the assembly proceedings during the trust vote and consulted constitutional experts.

The Governor also examined a letter submitted by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday night in which he claimed to have proved majority of his government twice.

While opposition Congress and BJP alleged that the trust motion passed by voice vote was manipulated, Patnaik claimed his government had the requisite majority even after BJP withdrew its support on March 7 following collapse of BJD-BJP alliance over seat sharing for the upcoming elections.
