The Congress-NCP coalition, which has emerged the largest block in the Goa assembly with 19 seats, is making efforts to form the next government, though the Governor has so far not made a decision on inviting any party or leaders to form the administration.

Asked if Governor SC Jamir was likely to invite the leader of any party to form the government, a senior Raj Bhavan official said, "We are watching the situation. From what we gather, the concerned parties are also making efforts in this direction."

"The Governor, after being satisfied about the support the party has, invites that party to form the government. In this case, there is still time for expiry of the assembly," the official said.

"We are waiting for political leaders to approach the Governor, seeking permission to form the next government," he added.
