Govt employees to boycott work today

THE STATE Government employees and members of different trade unions will boycott work for one day against the anti-labour policies of the government on Thursday. Several employee unions and workers associations held meetings at several locations to reiterate their decision to go on the strike.

THE STATE Government employees and members of different trade unions will boycott work for one day against the anti-labour policies of the government on Thursday. Several employee unions and workers associations held meetings at several locations to reiterate their decision to go on the strike.

Addressing a meeting of UP State Employees Confederation, district general secretary Kude Deen Yadav said their demands including encashment, extension of retirement age upto 65 years, new pension policy, regularisation of daily wages and muster roll workers were not considered by the government on grounds of scarcity of funds. He said that the employees could not endure any more and they would go on strike and continue the protest if their demands were not fulfilled.

The leaders urged all employees and trade union members to take part in the protest.

A meeting of the district committee of UP Bijli Karmchari Sangh, under the presidentship of Amar Nath Pandey, was held on Wednesday. The meeting was conducted by state assistant general secretary Jawahar Lal Vishwakarma.

The insurance employees protesting FDI in insurance sector, anti-labour policy, new pension scheme will also go on strike in accordance to call of AITUC on December 14.

The members of UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh, Directorate of Education Ministerial Officers’ Association and Vikas Bhawan Karmachari Mahasangh will also go on strike on Thursday.
