Govt raises housing loan limit for staff

THE STATE Cabinet at a meeting held here on Thursday decided to raise the housing loan limit for the officers and employees. Besides, it introduced two new prizes to reward their contribution to Urdu literature.

THE STATE Cabinet at a meeting held here on Thursday decided to raise the housing loan limit for the officers and employees. Besides, it introduced two new prizes to reward their contribution to Urdu literature.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan annexe office on Thursday.

Chief secretary Naveen Chand Bajpai said that the housing loan limit was hiked from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh. The loan amount for expanding or repairing the house was raised from Rs 60,000 to 1.80 lakh, he said. He also said that officers and employees would be entitled to get a rebate of 2.5 per cent on timely payment of installment.

He said that the Cabinet decided to introduce two separate awards of Rs 51,000 each for outstanding contribution to Urdu prose and poetry made by officers and government employees.

A sum of Rs 10,000 was being paid as prize for the best contribution. The State Cabinet decided to have two separate prizes of Rs 51,000 each for contribution made by them for the best contribution in the field of Hindi prose and poetry. A sum of Rs 5000 was being paid as prize for outstanding original contribution.

The State Cabinet approved higher specifications to set up two medical colleges at Jalaun and Kannauj. Earlier, the cabinet had approved a sum of Rs 212 crore for each medical college.

Incidentally, Kannauj is the Lok Sabha constituency of Akhilesh Yadav, the CM’s son The State Cabinet also relaxed the age limit in respect of appointment of eight lecturers, readers and professors of allopathic medical colleges.
