Govt ready to resume peace talks with Naxals

The Andhra Pradesh government was ready to resume peace talks with Naxals, according to T Purushotham Rao, who was the government emissary in the previous peace initiatives.

Rao said the government had not deviated from its policy on insurgency and added that it was ready to resume peace initiatives with the insurgent groups.

Rao, who is also the Rural Development Chairman, said the Maoists had boycotted talks for minor reasons in the lower level during the talks.

He urged the extremists to shun violence and choose the peaceful path of dialogue to find a lasting solution to the menace.
