Govt to close down hotels flouting norms in Thiruvananthapuram

A three-year deadline had been set for closing down all hotels and restaurants in the state flouting the guidelines of the food ministry to ensure the quality of food items, food safety commissioner Biju Prabhakar has said.

A three-year deadline had been set for closing down all hotels and restaurants in the state flouting the guidelines of the food ministry to ensure the quality of food items, food safety commissioner Biju Prabhakar has said.

Addressing a seminar on `Food Safety and Standards Act,' held by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, he said catering business operators should be aware of the rules regarding the Food Safety Act.

Sale of food in waysides was rampant in the state to cater to the floating population. An intesive safety drive would be initiated to cehck food adulteration, he said.
