The government would take stern action against those indulged in violence and stood in the way of those attending work or running business in the union territory during the dawn to dusk general strike by called by 'Sri Lankan Tamil Protection Movement' in Puducherry on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters in Puducherry on Tuesday, Chief Minister Vaithilingam said schools, offices and business establishments and establishments would function normally and police would be deployed in strength at all vantage points to ensure that there was no intimidation or interruption by anyone.
