A Buddhist lama, Geshe Ngawang Tashi Bapu, nominated for the prestigious Grammy award, has left his native village in Arunachal Pradesh for Los Angles to attend the award function on February eight, according to official sources at Bomdila.
Popularly known as Lama Tashi, he is one of the five nominees in the best traditional world music album category for his Tibetan master chants.
Lama Tashi told a private TV channel that the Sacred Chants of Buddhism give energy to listeners and his selection is a great honour not only for him but for Buddhism.
The 38-year-old lama hailing from Thembang village of west Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh has already performed at the World Festival of Sacred Music at the Hollywood bowl in Pasadena in California and several other forums in different parts of the world.
