“Jharkhand’s Independent legislators are on top of our death list,” said Rakesh, secretary of his outfit’s Jharkhand-West Bengal-Orissa Border Area Regional Committee.

“Shifting their bases to cities and virtually cutting themselves off from the rural folks who have voted them to power, the Independents are spending much of their time in power games. They are least bothered about the sufferings of the poor and downtrodden. We wish to try them in the people’s courts and punish them in full public view,” was what he added in pamphlets strewn all around in Singhbhum district.

The Maoist threats issued from an undisclosed location along the Jharkhand-West Bengal border in Ghatsila of East Singhbhum comes close on the heels of the murder of JMM district working committee member Krishna Mahato in Galudih on August 22.
