A green museum to be developed out of 12 heritage 'okhals' dating back to BHU founder Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya's times is on cards in Rasa Shastra Department of the central university.
The 12 'okhals' (stone containers) in which Ayurvedic formulations were pounded out from raw materials during Malviyaji's times, have been lying unutilized at Dept of Rasa Shastra (Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS-BHU) since early 1980s.
Said Dr Neeraj Kumar, Head at Dept of Rasa Shastra, while talking to HT on Friday, "the Ayurvedic Pharmacy was shifted to the Faculty of Ayurveda building in early 1980s and the Dept of Rasa Shastra housed in the empty place."
Since the Ayurvedic Pharmacy of the varsity was mechanized, the big sized stone okhals became outdated and were lying unutilized since then at Dept of Rasa Shastra.
The okhals dating back to the era of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya (great visionary and BHU founder) will now be conserved by Dept of Rasa Shastra in a green manner.
"We'll plant medicinal and aromatic plants in the 12 heritage okhals and resultantly conserve it at our new building coming up in a few months behind the Faculty of Visual Arts," the HoD of Dept of Rasa Shatra maintained.
