Shiv Kumar Yadav had always dreamt of making his younger son’s wedding memorable. So, his son arrived for his wedding to the bride’s house three kilometres away on a helicopter.
The son, Prashant Yadav, is an MBA student who has appeared for his final semester exams at ABES Engineering College in Ghaziabad and is still to decide on a job.
Ghaziabad, the venue of the wedding, however isn’t new to such riches. It has seen five such weddings in the past.
The owner of 500 acres of farmland near Aligarh, Yadav shelved out more than Rs 3 lakh for a three-km trip to Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad.
Hundreds of people gathered to watch as the groom, Prashant Yadav, reached the makeshift helipad in Shahpur Bamheta village near NH-24 in a sleek Ford Endeavor to set off on the helicopter along with his family for Vijay Nagar. His bride is the director of a private school.
“I have not landed a job yet. I am thinking about whether to take up a corporate job or work on my father’s farm,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}The wedding guests who could not manage a seat on the helicopter, made the most of the occasion by getting themselves clicked near the chopper. “I wanted this to be a memorable day. We are happy for our son and I don’t mind spending Rs 3 lakh for him. God has given us plenty,” said the groom’s father.
The bridegroom too was overjoyed. “Weddings are once in a lifetime affair and I wanted it to be special. My friends will enjoy this too,” a waving Prashant said.
An eight-year-old local village girl Saloni said: “I will ask my mom for this on my wedding.” They will fly back with the bride on Saturday.
