Overwhelmed by the large presence of children in colourful dresses, their dances, songs and other cultural programmes, the Governor, in his inaugural address, said in the company of children one craved to be a child again and sing and dance with them.

He further said that a smile of a child inspired their elders to live and hoped that the present generation of children would grow into responsible custodians of this nation, its culture and heritage.

Describing the gathering of children at Museum of Man as representative of India, where love was the supreme virtue, he said elders had the responsibility to inculcate virtues of compassion, love and humanism among them.

He said India with a population of over 110 crore has no danger from outside but its people needed to win over evils plaguing the society.

Earlier, Dr Jakhar inaugurated the festival by lighting the traditional lamp. It was followed by Saraswati Vandana by school children. School Education principal secretary Indraneel Shankar Dani gave the welcome address while Museum of Man Director Prof Kishore K Basa, briefly shed light on the concept, objectives and history of Bal Rang festival.
