Gujarat has retained its top position in attracting industrial investment as on July 2006, the state government said on Friday quoting an independent agency's report.

The state has left Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh behind in implementing projects and investment, said an official release citing the evaluation report by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
Gujarat has maintained its No 1 position for the last four years with investments worth Rs 2,763.65 billion in 704 projects against Rs 2,622.45 billion in Maharashtra and Rs 2601.48 billion in Andhra Pradesh during the period, the release said.
