Gunmen killed 18 Shiite men in attacks on two brick factories in Nahrawan, east of Baghdad, an interior ministry official said on Friday.

The police discovered the 18 bodies on Friday, the official said, adding that the attackers who struck Thursday had also attacked a nearby power station, which was empty.

He earlier had said that nine guards from the power station had been killed.
