The residents claim a group of five to six dogs protected by Sonia Rogers, who is an air hostess, has bitten a number of domestic helps. The maids in turn have almost gone on a strike, they allege.

The affected residents said they were threatened by the associates of an animal welfare society when they objected to the menace of dogs.

But a People for Animal (PFA) associate said the dogs were tortured and provoked, forcing them to get aggressive in self-defence. “It is not a crime to feed the hungry and homeless dogs. Rogers does not own these dogs but feeds them only,” said Ambika Shukla of PFA.

“The police are biased against her. She was assaulted by a group of people who had entered her house on Friday. The people who assaulted her were not booked.”

Rogers has been booked for negligent act with regard to animal conduct (under section 289) and threatening to kill (u/s 506 of Indian Penal Code).

With her mobile phone switched off, she was not available for any comments.

S.S. Sethi, the president of Rosewood Residents Welfare Association said that another maid Zahira was bitten by the dog protected by Rogers on February 11.
