Gurgaon to act against ad hoarding mafia

The civic body is inviting interested scarp dealers to where the iron-bar structures (frames) are illegally erected and auctioning them on the spot.
The MCG has identified 68 such small, medium and large iron frames on public land all along Vishwakarma Marg connecting Gurgaon Expressway and MG Road.
“For three years we have put up with the mafia, who would erect these illegal hoardings soon after we brought them down,” said MCG Commissioner Rajesh Khullar.
“We have now decided to auction the very base (metal structure) on the spot on December 5 as a one-time and permanent solution to the problem.”
The open auction will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday and interested scrap dealers and others can participate in the bidding process by depositing Rs 5,000 with the corporation.
Khullar said the drive would take off on Vishwakarma Marg where 68 such structures had been identified on public land.
He added, “We are also going to take up all other roads in the city.”
