Gurjar new Puducherry Lt Governor

Govind Singh Gurjar, a six-time legislator and former minister of Rajasthan, has been sworn in as the new Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

Govind Singh Gurjar, a six-time legislator and former minister of Rajasthan, was on Wednesday sworn in as the new Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

Chief Justice of Puducherry D. Krishnaraja administered the oath of office to Gurjar at a simple ceremony in the Raj Nivas.

The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker of the Assembly R Radhakrishnan, leaders of various political parties, legislators and senior officials.

The 76-year-old Gurjar is 19th Lt Governor of the union territory. After being sworn in, he inspected a guard of honour presented by Puducherry police.
