Guv conducts aerial survey of Amarnath Yatra routes
Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board chairman governor NN Vohra alongwith CEO Rakesh Kumar Gupta conducted an aerial survey of the Yatra route along Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni on Pahalgam axis and Sangam and Baltal on Baltal axis, to check the amount of snow still accumulated in the area.
Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board chairman governor NN Vohra alongwith CEO Rakesh Kumar Gupta conducted an aerial survey of the Yatra route along Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni on Pahalgam axis and Sangam and Baltal on Baltal axis, to check the amount of snow still accumulated in the area.
It was observed that the route was still covered with about 8-10 feet of snow. The restoration of tracks from Chandanwari onwards is being taken up by the Pahalgam development authority on the Pahalgam - holy cave axis and by the state PWD on the Baltal-holy cave axis and this work shall be able to gain momentum only if there is sunny weather for 7-10 days. At present, the speed of work has been significantly affected on account of the prevailing weather conditions.
The chairman impressed upon all the agencies to ensure that the tracks are cleared of the snow and all facilities required for the Yatra are put in place before the commencement of Yatra on June 28.
