Circketer Harbhajan Singh, who has been selected for the prestigious award Padam Shree, on Monday unfurled National Flag in a function organized in front of his resident by Daulat Puri Residential Welfare society.
The society, honoured Bhajji for the contribution in the cricket team, which continued its winning spree in the year 2008.
Reacting on the announcement for Padam Shree award for him, Bhajji said "I am glad that I am selected for the prestigious award and its really honour for me".
Flanked with his mother, Avtar Kaur, Bhajji dedicated the award to his late father, relatives and friends and said "I got a call from union sports ministry, day before yesterday about informed about the award, but I did not disclose it anybody and finally my name was announced yesterday".
"I am luck to get selected for the award, which has already been conferred to the great cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid and now I along with Captain M S Dhoni will also get the same", he said adding that it is always a glad moment for any sportsperson to get such a prestigious award.
Avtar Kaur, Bhajji's mother revealed that she would accompany her son to the Golden temple soon to thank God for the award.
