In a major breakthrough the Chhattisgarh police had arrested Gopanna along with two other Maoist rebels- Surendra and Suresh- on May 4 in Gariyabandh, under Raipur district.

The all had been taken on 9-day police remand. These ultras were produced in the Gariyabandh court this afternoon.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Raipur BBS Marawi told Hindustan Times that since Gariyabandh police did not seek further remand, the court sent the arrested extremists on judicial remand. According to the available information, the arrested ultras had been grilled in State Police headquarter by the senior police officials during the police remand.

The Gariyabandh police also succeeded in getting some important information from the arrested extremists. But the details of the same were not disclosed.
