Haryana officials begin talks with Dera management Sirsa on May 26india Updated: May 26, 2007 19:01 IST
In the wake of the stand off between the Dera Sacha Sauda and the Akali Takht, the Haryana administration on Saturday initiated an official dialogue with the Dera management to resolve the issue over the alleged dressing up of its chief like Guru Gobind Singh.
Top level civil and police officials, led by Hisar range Commissioner M C Wadhwa, began a meeting with the Dera representatives at the PWD rest house here.
The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of the failure of an all-religion delegation to broker peace between the two contending sides.
Meanwhile, Akal Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti in Amritsar said the all-religion delegation has made no contact with him so far.
Asked about the prospects of an understanding with the Dera, he said," I will be able to comment only after studying the proposal, if any, that comes before me. "
