Have requested Sreeramulu not to take hasty decision: Shettar

Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister Jagadish Shettar on Sunday said he has requested former minister B Sreeramulu who resigned his assembly membership over denial of a ministerial berth not to take a hasty decision.

Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister Jagadish Shettar on Sunday said he has requested former minister B Sreeramulu who resigned his assembly membership over denial of a ministerial berth not to take a hasty decision.

"I spoke to him and requested him not take a hasty decision. I have however conveyed his feelings to the party's central leadership", Shettar told reporters here.

Sreeramulu, who resigned today, is a close aide of the mining magnates the Reddy brothers -- G Karunakara Reddy and G Janardhana Reddy.

Meanwhile, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said he was trying his level best to contact Sreeramulu and try to speak to him before this evening on the issue.

"I have 100 per cent confidence he is not going to resign from his (assembly) membership... will try to convice him. We are not ready to lose him", he said.

Asked whether Sreeramulu was treated "badly" by the BJP, he said "no, no, he must have been hurt".

State BJP President K S Eshwarappa who is in Shimoga however declined to comment on Sreeramulu's resignation.
