HC summons CS over MV Act

TAKING STRONG exception to the government failure to file a compliance report regarding the guidelines issued by the court relating to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice D P Singh and Justice J M Paliwal summoned the chief secretary to appear before the court on August 10.

TAKING STRONG exception to the government failure to file a compliance report regarding the guidelines issued by the court relating to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice D P Singh and Justice J M Paliwal summoned the chief secretary to appear before the court on August 10.

The Bench further directed the respondents to publish the guidelines issued by the court together with the extracts of the relevant provisions of the M V Act in some conspicuous English and Hindi dailies by the date fixed by the court. In reference to a newspaper report to the effect that the provisions of the M V Act were being flouted, the Bench called upon the DGP and the Transport Commissioner to clarify as to why the provisions of the M V Act were not being followed. The matter will come up for hearing on August 10.

Directive to IPS officer: Justice Rakesh Sharma of the High Court has directed the authorities concerned to ensure the presence of a senior IPS officer of Mumbai Virendra Singh Siddhu along with his two kids Aishlee (11) and Rakjat (eight) in court on August 11 in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed by the wife of the officer concerned, alleging that the kids were being detained by the father.

DJ summoned: A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice O P Srivastava and Justice Allah Raham summoned the Ambedkernagar district judge to appear before the court on August 8 for not producing papers relating to criminal trial of a juvenile Pappu.
