The initiatives are aimed at creating awareness and improving healthcare delivery system. The federation will be conducting programmes under the theme 'Saving Lives' that will target communities across different strata of society.

"We will be conducting public health awareness programmes across India to save lives and provide care efforts for the welfare of the society," FOGSI President C N Purandare told reporters in Mumbai.

FOGSI will also highlight the aspects of safe pregnancy and delivery by conducting over 60 continuing medical education (CME) programmes all over the country that will focus on the need for nutrition in pregnancy, medication and delivery management among others.

Nearly 100 CME programmes would be conducted to reduce the cancer "burden" of the nation, FOGSI Secretary General P K Shah said.
