THE TEMPERATURE has continued to hover around 42 degrees Celsius mark in the City since last two days, forcing Indoreans to stay indoors during daytime.
Maximum day temperature recorded today afternoon was 41.9 degrees, which was two degrees above normal. If weathermen are to be believed May is the hottest month of the season in the City and the temperatures are only bound to go higher.
Occasionally, during afternoon fast winds aggravate the problem and the City also experiences heat waves in the month of May that have already begun this season.
Talking to Hindustan Times over phone, a Meteorological Department, Bhopal duty officer revealed that weather would remain dry during next 24 hours in Indore and sky might remain partly clouded. He added that night temperature of the City was 22.6 degrees, which was normal.
Weather of the City has become dry since last two days, which has made Sun rays more piercing. Weather office of the City informed that wind was blowing in northwesterly direction towards the City today while yesterday wind pattern was westerly northwesterly. Relative humidity was 20 per cent in the morning and during evening it was 11 per cent.
The maximum temperature recorded in the month of May in the City was 46 degrees Celsius, 12 years back on May 31, 1994. Meteorological Department Bhopal revealed that maximum temperature recorded in the State was 44 degrees Celsius during last 24 hours at Gwalior, Sagar and Hoshangabad.
