Kullu has been experiencing heavy downpour in the district since the past two days due which landslides and loss of property have become common.
On Wednesday, a cloud burst occurred in Shat Nullah in Manikaran area of Kullu. Shepherds grazing their cattle in the upper reaches lost around 300 goats and sheep which were washed away in the flood but no loss of human beings was reported in the disaster.
In Kullu, around 50 slums have been raised along the Sarvari River where families of poor labourers live. According to locals, the river is always prone to floods and had posed a threat to the nearby bus stand few years ago. Sources say the district administration is mulling shifting the inhabitants of the illegal slum to a safer place.
Due to heavy downpour in Kullu, Beas and its tributaries are experiencing swift increase in water level and the district administration has asked people to remain away from river banks.
Kullu deputy commissioner Rakesh Kanwar said, "We are looking for a safe place to shift the slum dwellers living in the vicinity of the Sarvari River and within two to three days, they will be shifted to avert any tragedy."
He said the administration had already banned water sports in Beas as well as aero sports like paragliding which may pose a threat to human life because of bad weather.

{{/usCountry}}Kanwar sent a team of officials to the flood affected area to assess the loss and said compensation would be given to the affected shepherds according to the relief manual.
