Two persons died and six persons were injured in separate incidents in heavy rains, which lashed the Mandya district over the last two days.
A 34-year-old man died when the wall of his house collapsed at Dinkashettyhalli village while his wife and mother sustained injuries, officials said.
In a similar incident, a 13-year-old girl died after the wall of her house collapsed on her at Aralukuppe, while two persons sustained bone fractures and were admitted to KR Hospital in Mysore, they said.
In another incident two more persons were injured at Dinkapur, sources said.
Pandavapura legislator CS Puttaraju visited the villages and announced rupees one lakh compensation to the bereaved families and Rs 30,000 for damaged houses, officials said.
Meanwhile, the irrigation department of KRS dam has issued a red-alert to people in low-lying areas of the Cauvery river basin asking them to vacate their homes due to heavy rains in the catchment areas, they said.
The authorities have released 50000 cusecs due to heavy rains, sources said.
Inflow into KRS dam has also increased with 30,000 cusecs flowing in, Vijay Kumar, Executive Engineer, KRS Division, said.
The dam has already reached the maximum level of 124.80 feet, he said.
