The southern state has been receiving heavy showers over the last three days.

Southwest monsoon was active over Telangana. Rains or thundershowers may occur at many places in Telangana, north and south coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region during the next 48 hours, the local weather office said today.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah held telephonic discussions with several district collectors and reviewed the latest rainfall position and progress of the monsoon, according to an official release here.

He asked the Collectors to evacuate people from the low-lying areas to safer places well in advance, it said.

The CM asked the Collectors, municipal administration, Panchayat Raj and Health Department officials to be vigilant about the possibility of seasonal epidemics, the release said.
