Heavy rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning, lashed this city for about an hour tonight after a two day hot spell.

Several trees were uprooted in the strong winds that preceded the rains, officials said.

Low lying areas in the city were inundated. Rain Water Harvesting systems, installed in buildings, received copious amount of water, they said.
