Heavyweights fall by wayside as Congress wave sweeps AP

Majority of TDP ministers were humbled at the hustings as the Congress made deep dents on its way to a landslide victory in AP.

Majority of TDP ministers and speaker of the dissolved Andhra Pradesh Assembly, K Pratibha Bharathi were humbled at the hustings as the Congress made deep dents on its way to a landslide victory along with its allies TRS and left parties.

Braving the anti-incumbency storm, Chief Minisiter N Chandrababu Naidu (Kuppam), Finance Minsiter Y Ramakrishnudu (Tuni), Uma Madhav Reddy (Bhongir), T Devender Goud (Medchal), Kothapalli Subbarayudu (Narsapuram) were among the few who retained their seats though with reduced margins.

Revenue Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju tasted the first ever defeat of his career since 1978 in Vizianagaram while Pratibha Bharati is losing ground for the first time at Etcherla since 1983 after the formation of TDP.

Other heavyweights who fell by wayside include, Tammineni Sitaram (Amudalavalasa), Manikumari (Paderu), whose husband was recently killed by naxals, former CBI director K Vijayarama Rao (Khairatabad), T Srinivasa Yadav (Secunderabad), P Babu Mohan (Andole), K Vidyadhar Rao (Chintalapudi) among the 36-member cabinet.

TDP's astrologer minister MV Mohan Reddy lost from Yemiganur in Kurnool district along with Md Farooq (Nandyal).
