SECURITY HAS been beefed up in the State Capital ahead of the Republic Day. The police are conducting surprise checking at hotels and lodges. Patrolling has been intensified and STD/ISD booths are under surveillance.
Vehicles are being checked all over the State Capital particularly at the entry points of the City. The Delta Fore has also been pressed into service.
Meanwhile, the two persons who were caught with 450 gm brown sugar from a hotel on Monday night told police that they had bought the narcotic from Rajasthan. The police are sending a team to Jhalawar for further investigation.
Singh to lead parade
FULL DRESS rehearsal for the forthcoming Republic Day function at the Lal Parade Ground was conducted on Tuesday. DGP Swaraj Puri inspected the rehearsal.
IGs Sudarshan Kumar and Vijay Shukul apprised the DGP about the preparations for the Republic Day parade function. Additional SP Abhay Singh will lead the parade on January 26.
DSP Pranay Nagvanshi will be the second in command. Contingents of Rapid Action Force, various zones of SAF, district police force, Government Railway Police, Home Guards, Jail wardens, Women’s platoon, ex-servicemen, NCC Army Wing, Senior Naval Wing Boys, NCC Air wing, Senior Division NCC Girls, Scout Guides, Police Boys, Police Band and mounted force will be part of the parade.

Senior police officials, children of various schools, teachers and policemen were present in large numbers on the occasion, according to a PHQ release issued on Tuesday.
CM to take salute at Jhabua
CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan will leave Jaipur for Indore in the evening of January 25 by plane. He will take salute of Republic Day parade at Jhabua and return Bhopal the same afternoon.
