Stranded in Saudi Arabia after a road accident had left them paralysed in October last year, two youths from Himachal Pradesh were finally able to return home on Sunday, following intervention from external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.

Gagan Kumar and Jitender, hailing from Chamba and Arki area in Solan districts respectively, have reached India and will undergo further treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla, sources said.

The youths were employed with a company in Saudi Arabia and had met with an accident. They were given treatment at a hospital there for a few days but later the company had refused to bear the expenses and did not even facilitate their return to India.

The youth managed to upload a video on the internet, describing their plight and sought help from Government of India. The footage was aired by news channels, following which Shimla MP Varinder Kashyap had taken up the matter with Swaraj and sought proper treatment for the youths and their return.
