This was an ample indication why the publishers of all categories of Hindi books are taking part in the Kolkata Book Fair this year.

"The notable feature this year is that a number of local publishers from West Bengal like Bijay Pushtak Bhandar and Hindi Pushtak Bhandar have participated in the fair," Mr Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, general secretary, Publishers and Booksellers Guild, told UNI.

"This time major Hindi publishers like Ananda Prakashan, Geeta Press, India Book House, Kalyani Publishers, Ratna Sagar and Rajkamal Prakashan are taking part in the fair," Mr Subrata Datta Gupta, spokesperson, Publishers and Booksellers Guild, said.

"The trend has begun from last year. We have seen rise in participants from Hindi publishing community from last year because of the rising business last year," he said.

Without quantifying the exact amount of business, sources at the Hindi book stalls said business has also jumped manifold this time as compared to last year.
