The caravan of saffron-clad sadhus of the Hindu Rakshak Manch arrived in Agra from Fatehpur Sikri and after addressing a rally in the heart of the city left for Etah on Wednesday.

The touring sadhus appealed to Hindu voters to elect a government sympathetic to the Hindu cause and committed to uprooting terrorism.

Shankaracharya Vasudevanand Maharaj asked politicians to "remove pseudo secular glasses and understand the feelings of millions of Hindus in the country".

"Since the country is passing through a critical phase", the saints and seers had to take the lead in waking up "slumbering masses", he said.

A prominent saint, Hansraj Maharaj, asked Hindus to shun family planning because the "population of Hindus should now increase".

Former union minister of state for home Chinmayanand said people should vote for parties which are firmly opposed to terrorism.
