HJM activists burnt posters and destroyed bottles of soft drinks majors, Coca Cola and Pepsi, for selling ‘pesticide laced’ products.

HJM leader Gyanu Mishra and activists of the rightist outfit assembled at the Bada Chauraha and demanded ban on the sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola products in the State.

They asked the government to cancel licences of both the companies.

“Children and the youth are the major consumers of soft drinks. To save them, the State Government should ban the sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola in the State,” Mishra demanded.

The Hindu Jagran Manch also threatened to launch a statewide agitation if the State Government failed to meet their demands.

The Shiv Sena, too, burnt posters of Coca Cola and Pepsi and demanded a ban on their sale in the State.

President of the south unit of the organisation Dinesh Jaiswal said that the State Government should emulate Kerala and ban the sale of Colas in UP.

“The State Government will be solely responsible for the fall out,” said Shiv Sena leader Deepak Tripathi.
