The CK Birla Group owned Hindustan Motors on Wednesday said it would be launching 'Montero', its new model in the country, in June this year.
"Montero is a sophisticated version of the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)," Hindustan Motors Vice President SC Gupta told reporters. More models are in the pipeline, he added.
Launching the Lancer Cedia, Lancer Cedia -sport and Pajero CRZ in the Kerala market, Gupta said they were expecting a good response from the state. While the Lancer Cedia carries an aggressive price tag of Rs 9.87 lakh, the Pajero CRZ would cost Rs 18.30 lakh, he said.
The Lancer Cedia has been priced competitively for the C++ segment. Its highlights are a four cylinder 2.0 litre high torque petrol engine, Electronically controlled multipoint fuel injection system, Tilt power steering and plush leather and chrome interiors.
The Lancer Cedia is a premium car evolved from the legendary Evo series from Mitsubishi, the four time rally champion. An extremely responsive car with easy maneuverablity, the car can be easily negotiated in bumper-to-bumper traffic, he said.
The car has an extremely powerful two litre petrol engine with 16 valves. Even at a top speed of 180 kmph, the car is stable. The driver's seat can be adjusted for height to give clear all round visiblity. With dual air bags, collapsable steering and side impact bars, the car is very safe, he said.
