An executive council meeting of Naga Hoho held in Kohima recently expressed concern over the tension on the delimitation exercise to effect readjustment of assembly segments, Naga Hoho General Secretary Neingulo Krome said in a statement in Kohima on Monday.

"In all fairness, the Naga Hoho would urge the Government of India and its various agencies not to impose constitutional obligations on the Naga people at this time of our history when we are passing through a very trying period," the statement said.

It said the Centre should rather make all out efforts to settle the vexed Naga political conflict, which is the "crux of all matters".

The opinions of Naga tribes were divided over the current delimitation exercise with some groups supporting the minor readjustments within the districts as per the revised draft proposals while others demanded implementation of broad-based delimitation proposed earlier by the Commission.
