They performed Quran Khwani and later offered flowers at the graves (mazar) of Yasin and Suleman, situated at Ali Sagar (Phatman) under Lallapura in Varanasi. The volunteers also performed prayers for world peace.

Co-ordinator of the committee Nazim Abbas said that it was a matter of pride for the citizens that the graves of Yasin and Suleman were situated in Varanasi. He added that the condition of the graves, however, was not good.

He said that the Central and State governments assured several times that the graves would be renovated but no efforts had been initiated till now to improve the condition of the graves. He demanded that the Central and state governments construct a grand memorial of Yasin and Suleman here in Varanasi.

Nazim Abbas informed that Yasin and Suleman had fought with the Britishers and later the Britishers had arrested them and kept them in Chunar palace near Varanasi. He said that when both of them died, the Britishers buried them here in Varanasi.

Salim said that the graves of Yasin and Suleman were symbols of national integrity and unity.
