Such is the lure of Indian food that a British couple living in the Middle East flew out a meal from their favourite Indian restaurant.

Chris and Pauline Harris were missing Indian food so much that they placed a meal order of more that £2,000 with the Saffron in Topsham, near Exeter, Devon. Accompanied by a waiter from the restaurant, the feast is being delivered to the Harris' home in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in time for a party for 20 people.

It is believed that Harris took to Saffron's curries while serving at the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre at nearby Lympstone.
Restaurant head chef Kaptan Miah said: "At first it was a shock, then I realised it was true. It was a challenge for us, but we did our best."
