“The state’s NSG hub, set up on a 23-acre land at Tungwe in Marol on state police property, will be inaugurated by Home Minister Chidambaram,” the official said.

Following the Mumbai terror attacks, the Centre has decided to set up the hub here in Mumbai, comprising trained anti-terror, anti-hijacking Army commandos.

Launch of the operation to flush out the terrorists was considerably delayed as NSG personnel had to be moved from their base in Manesar in Haryana to Mumbai.

The hub will be equipped with all facilities to launch operations in and around Mumbai, reducing response time.
