Official sources here said Mr Duggal met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

He was accompanied by a team of senior officers from IB, RAW and other wings of the Home Ministry dealing with the counter-insurgency operation.

Earlier, there was also a Unified Command meeting, where according to official sources, the Army expressed reservation for not getting full cooperation from the state police in their counter-insurgency operation.

The Army made it clear that ULFA's striking ability had been reduced wherever the Army was operating.

The urban areas were not under the Army operation. The Army also said they had given specific written intelligence input to the Assam police regarding the impending bomb attack on market area of Fancy bazaar, but police could not prevent it.
