Otago wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins was the only newcomer named in New Zealand's one-day squad on Thursday for the triangular series with England and West Indies which starts on June 24.
He will join experienced all-rounder Chris Harris and batsman Hamish Marshall in the one-day squad in England while Chris Martin and Mark Richardson return home after the third test in Nottingham.
Hopkins has been called up by coach John Bracewell as cover for Brendon McCullum, who plans to return to New Zealand for the birth of his first child after the third match in the one-day series.
Also leaving for the birth of his first child is fast bowler Shane Bond, who will fly home after the fifth match.
No replacement for Bond has been announced.
