Later, the inmates met dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) Prof Jagdamba Singh and demanded appointment of a three-member committee to first inquire as to why were students unable to deposit the fee and then begin the eviction exercise.

The inmates claimed that they were neither served notices to deposit the hostel fee or even vacate the rooms.

They said despite repeated attempts to inquire about the date for depositing the hostel fee, they were refused on the pretext that the hostel was to be fully vacated.

The students expressed their lack of confidence in the hostel superintendent and claimed that they were ready to deposit the fee, but that should be under direct supervision of the AU authorities.

Later, the agitating inmates met the DSW and demanded that a three-member committee, comprising of an assistant dean, an assistant proctor and hostel warden Dr Harsh Kumar, be constituted to look into the matter.

The hostellers said the DSW had assured them that no further action would be taken against the Holland Hall inmates till the three-member committee submitted its report.
