Hotels cash in on summer fruits

Fresh fruits are popular in summer, everybody knows, including restaurant owners. And with this knowledge restaurants are serving special fruit-based delicacies. From mocktails to desserts and pastries, the variety is endless.

Fresh fruits are popular in summer, everybody knows, including restaurant owners. And with this knowledge restaurants are serving special fruit-based delicacies. From mocktails to desserts and pastries, the variety is endless.

Dermatologists are happy with the trend, for eating fruits are good for health, although some should be taken in limited quantities.

"We have introduced mango-based desserts and some fruit-based pastries. We use a lot of watermelon, lemon and musk melon," said Sandipan Bose, food and beverage Manager with Fortune Select Excalibur.

Radisson has come up with kiwi and mango desserts, pastries and cakes. The popular ones in its menu are three-layer mango-berry chocolate cake, strawberry cake and raspberry yogurt cake, among others.

Park Plaza is not far behind, with its several new fruit cakes, pastries and desserts.

"It is impossible to eat heavy or oily food in this weather. I prefer eating light, especially fruits," said Gurgaon resident Mallika Sharma.
