HSBC on hiring spree, announces a slew of senior appointments

Global banking major HSBC today said it has appointed Chetan Patni as Managing Director Head of Execution and Sales Trading, in India.

Global banking major HSBC on Wednesday said it has appointed Chetan Patni as Managing Director Head of Execution and Sales Trading, in India.

Patni will be jointly responsible for HSBC's Indian equities business with Managing Director Head of Equities Haresh Shivdasani, a press release issued here stated.

Patni will report to Rakesh Patel, Managing Director, Head of Equity Sales and Trading, Asia-Pacific.

Prior to joining HSBC, Patni was an Executive Director at JP Morgan India.

Announcing other appointments across its equity functions within Global Markets in the Asia-Pacific region, HSBC said that Gerardo Pablo has joined it as Head of Program Trading for Asia-Pacific from BNP Paribas where he was Head of Global Portfolio Trading, Asia-Japan.

Pablo will be responsible for managing and executing Program Trading in the region and will report to Gavin Williamson, Head of Execution Trading, Asia-Pacific.

Alex Lupis has been appointed as Head of Corporate Access, Asia-Pacific and will be responsible for managing and marketing HSBC's Asia-Pacific Corporate Access products globally. He will report to Patel, the release said, adding that Lupis was previously Head of Corporate Marketing at Citi.

Another appointment is that of Sung Choi, who has been appointed Head of International Equity Sales.

Based in Korea, Choi will be responsible for managing the distribution and sale of Korean equity products to institutional investors in Asia, the US and Europe.

He will report to Chehee Han, Managing Director, Head of Equities in Korea. Choi was previously a Vice-President at Morgan Stanley.
